With his rodent-like features and long, bony-fingered hands, Schreck’s vampire is an icon of screen horror, bringing pestilence and death to the town of Bremen in 1838. Transporter is a high action movies titillating an ex-Special forces soldier who earns his living transporting “packages” for various clients, mostly shady. In this movie, the transporter ( Jason Stratham ) violates his beget rules ( he’s sincere stout on rules ) and looks inside the package, doesn’t like what he sees and doesn’t complete the delivery. Dreadful notion, now the client is after him, along with the police. The movie is region in the French countryside so if you don’t bask in the thrill-a-minute action, unbiased appreciate the notion.
Highly recommended for fans of Jason Stratham , James Bond movies, and high action movies, especially car chases.

I wasn’t expecting to indulge in an action flick last night, but when my hubby popped in Transporter I found my attention held almost against my will. I don’t generally settle action for my have movie nights. Unexpectedly, the combination of extraordinary but well-pulled-off stunt sequences and the undeniable charisma of Jason Statham crooked me in.

In case you (like most law-abiding citizens) didn’t know, a transporter is the guy who not only acts as a high-priced delivery service for such scrumptious folk as mobsters, but also occasionally lands gigs driving the getaway car from the scene of the crime. From the opening scene where he is doing fair that, our transporter, Frank Martin, is clearly the best in the business. A series of unbelievable car stunts and narrow escapes during the getaway shuffle establishes the general speedily pacing of this movie and the slick professionalism of our “hero”. And guys, his Beemer almost has enough gadgets to qualify as a 007 model.
This transporter made the fatal error of breaking one of his gain rules when a mobster hired him to yell a package: Never Study Inside. Obvious enough, he discovered a conscience within himself. From that point on, his fate was spot against the much underground smuggling cartel dealing in human cargo.
The accelerate scenes, fight scenes, and general action that ensues throughout the film are interspersed with objective enough residence twist to sustain it inviting and unprejudiced enough humanity to support it grounded without becoming maudlin. This is a somewhat toned-down version of a James Bond-like fantasy, region in the lovely rural countryside of France and riddled with bullets and explosions that purchase out cars and buildings instead of entire islands. Of course, there is the obligatory dazzling female who can’t support her hands off of Martin. Mountainous for the testosterone and the estrogen all at once.

Since the DVD version has yet to be released,I can’t comment on that version but have to rely on the VHS Tape which I have.Many reviewers have commented on the “racism” in this serial. Undoubtably they were not alive or at least going to the movies at that time in their life.The serial while it may not be considered politically suitable in the display time only reflected the attitude of an nation that was drawn into WW2 by the attack of the Japanese on Pearl Harbor in 1941.All motion pictures of that era released by the 7 major studios pictured the axis ( Germany,Japan and Italy ) in an unpleasant light unprejudiced as in the 50’s during the Icy War Russia was portrayed in the same manner..Columbia Pictures which is a subsidiary of Sony Corp ( a Japanese entity) is to be congratulated for releasing the serial..I enjoyed it thoroughly.Although Columbia serials were never as well produced as the serials from Republic Pictures,this is one of their better chapter plays. One of the unintended bloopers that I enjoyed seeing was in one of the early chapters. This chapter has Batman fighting with his cape on and the cape mysteriously disappears in mid fight and honest as mysteriously reappears before the fight is concluded.I view the format is listed as color which is improper unless Columbia colorized the discs.I do hope they have copied the serial unto dvds with a restored print as the VHS tape was not as definite as it should be.I was disappointed to glance that it will be released on 2 disks.All 15 chapters could well fit on one disk.
The 1943 BATMAN is a terrific serial: goofy, amusing, and intelligent by turns. Not as slick as Republic when it came to chapterplay product, Columbia made up for it with sheer energy and zany enthusiasm. A lake fleshy of alligators under a trapdoor in front of your desk? No quandary (although one wonders what the contractors view, finishing THAT room) . There were many embarrassing portrayals of Japanese warlords in ’40s serials (Johnny Arthur in THE MASKED MARVEL comes to mind) but J. Carrol Naish strikes honest the honest balance of looniness and menace. The “zombie-maker” machines seem to have been left over from the Boris Karloff film THE DEVIL COMMANDS, or at least inspired by them, and how advance you can’t pick stuff like that on the Shopping Network? All that said, the racism in this serial is frightening, even by WWII movie standards, and parents are going to need to talk to their kids when watching it. (Incidentally, a Sony secure advised me that yes, this will be the uncut 1943 version, not the “cleaned up” 1980s video version that removed some of the racist slurs.) Although “The Adventures of Ford Fairlane” is the best film released in the 90’s, it has not received the considerable acclaim it so justly deserves. The well-written screenplay, tailor-made for Andrew Dice Clay, is a esteem legend about a private investigator and his secretary. In a great performance, Clay has restrained his usual humor to earn a realistic film about the anguish of being a Rock and Roll detective. He had reasons for leaving the police force, which results in harsh treatment from Lt. Amos, convincingly played by Ed O’Neill. Wayne Newton, as the depraved Julian Grendel almost steals the reveal from the rest of the cast.
I remember the early days of Don Rickles, the master of insult humor. His career was saved when his Las Vegas crowd rallied to let the public know that he was really a nice guy. Unfortunately, the Dice-Man didn’t have that abet, and his 80’s update of Rickles-type humor was blown out of proportion by a misguided, politically-correct public that wouldn’t know a droll joke if it was strapped to their privates. Dice IS laughable, and he IS a nice guy. His humor is probably a “GUY” thing, but he talks no differently than anyone I’ve known who lived in a college dorm. Okay. Enough about the misunderstood Dice. “The Adventures of Ford Fairlane”, an early concern from Renny Harlin, is always laughable and always challenging. The screenplay is clever, a suppose parody of slow detective films, with many unique ideas, tailor-made to the many talents of Andrew Dice Clay. Dice is quite charming, always self-effacing and having a colossal time. The assembled cast is immense, with Gilbert Gottfried in a natural role, a pretty corrupt performance from Wayne Newton, as well as Robert Englund (in a non-Freddy role, but mild dismal) . Lauren Holly is a stabilizing factor, and Priscilla Presley (remember the “Naked Gun” films? ) is as straight as ever. Really palatable is Maddie Corman (the petite sister from “Some Kind of Astounding”) as Zuzu Petals (I’ve not been able to peek “It’s a Extraordinary Life” without thinking of Maddie…) Ed O’Neill’s rendition of “Booty Time” may stick with you.Andrew Dice Clay’s humor may not appeal to all, but this is a fun film and the Dice-Man is quite endearing. Don’t contemplate…Like!

The effects are seamless and spectacular. The accept by Ilan Eshkeri is dramatic. Narration by Ian McKellen is compelling. And the casting is exceptional, from Robert De Niro as the appetizing sky pirate Captain Shakespeare to Pfeiffer as the sumptuously faulty witch.

Claire Danes is absolutely comely as Yvaine, who in one plot or another holds the resolution of every quest. Poised, comely and sporting a mountainous English country accent, Danes glows even without the relieve of special effects. And Tristan Thorn is a classic everyman hero, a simple young man who grows and flourishes on his journey; Cox captures the role perfectly. A relative newcomer to the camouflage, he’s without seek information from an actor to contemplate.
Gaiman is a intelligent writer, a man with an imagination like no other. Fortunately, director Matthew Vaughn bucked the Hollywood trend by respecting the source material, creating a glorious film, one that will surely become a classic for generations to near.

Wall looks like unprejudiced about every other English village, but it hides a secret. It’s not jolly archaic England on the other side of the wall. Few mundane English travelers ever fabricate it over the wall and aid. Drustan (Nathaniel Parker-Ben Barnes) is one of the few–and nine months later, a son was delivered to him at his doorstep.
The son Tristan (Charlie Cox) grows to 19 and falls in care for with Victoria (Sienna Miller) a woman well above his means. He fears his ability to recall her heart is failing, til they stare a star tumble on the other side of the wall–and Victoria tells him if he will recognize out the star, she will be his.
Thus, begins Tristan’s quest for right appreciate. Instead of a star, he finds a maiden Yvaine (Clare Danes) who turns out to be the earth-bound embodiment of the star. Unfortunately, Victoria is not the only person who wants the star.
From here, we encounter a multiplicity of spot complications including a King (Peter O’Toole) who sets his sons against each other in a fight for succession to the throne, a pirate (Robert DeNiro) with an moving secret) and a triad of witches who behold the star to extend their lives and (ahem) beauty.
I loved reading Neil Gaiman’s sage. STARDUST is one of his best, but the film is one of those rare instances where the book has been improved. The casting for STARDUST is some of the best I have seen.
This is one of the rare films that I paid beefy designate for in the theatre and will choose the DVD for later viewing. STARDUST is going to be a fantasy classic and a ample addition to any fantasy fan’s library.
WARNING: If you have very young children, please do not display this film without some advisory. We saw STARDUST in the theatre with a couple of young families finish by and the littlest kids were crying at the rough parts and some families had to leave.

The replacement music on the DVDs has been such a distinguished controversy regarding the release of NX on DVD. It’s such a shame because I haven’t heard of any other TV demonstrate being released on DVD that has had this quandary.
I loved the exhibit, and I really didn’t see the replacement music on Seasons 1-3, so I view it could be forgiven. I figured that the new music was an artistic decision on the fraction of the creators of the series. If they couldn’t come by the rights at an affordable notice for the DVDs, they would have to design more artistic decisions regarding replacement music. How terrible could it be? How far could they go foul?
Unfortunately, with Season 4, I am noticing it, and for me, I’m realizing how considerable the unique choices of music were the heart of some scenes, and very often the heart of the all-important final scene, the one that leaves you with “that feeling”. Often the music is primary for “that feeling”.
So I realize I tumble into the “fresh music is vital” camp of NX fans. If the music isn’t the heart of the show’s emotions for you, expansive. But Season 4 is the last one that I’ll pick unless they earn a contrivance to release the series with the novel music.
I’m elated I purchased seasons 1-4 to indicate my help (or else how else would they know how celebrated the exhibit is so they can deem about buying the rights to the modern music), but I’m done with these DVDs. I’ll view them through and establish them on a shelf, give them to relatives and hope they can bag into them, but for my enjoyment, the modern music was principal, and it’s missing.
Hopefully, they won’t be like David Bowie CDs, undergoing 3 or 4 releases until hardcore fans give him the finger and say “F*** You, David, I’ve given you enough money. I’m sticking with the Rykodiscs” like I did.

I saw this at a workshop for Autism Spectrum Disorder. Richard Lavoie is a dynamic speaker and gave an obedient workshop. As the parent of an Asperger’s child I came away with a better plan of what my daughter must go through every day. PBS would do well to give it a wider release on DVD at a cheaper impress than currently available here.
Wow…this video really opened my eyes about the challenges ‘different’ learners face…especially in the tea kettle called the classroom.
For these kids, forcing them to “try harder” is not only misguided, but downright unfair.
Kudos to Lavoie for this noteworthy experience…it’s well worth the cost.
